Robin Williams continued his seemingly unstoppable march towards the world’s top 200 players on the Official World Golf Ranking list with his superb share of fourth in last week’s DP World Tour’s Alfred Dunhill Championship in St Andrews, Scotland.

It was Williams’ best-ever performance on the rankings list, with a haul of 9.34515 points seeing him outperform the likes of major champions Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Shane Lowry, Padraig Harrington, Rory McIlroy and Patrick Reed. He climbed 65 places from 276^th to 211^th.

He began the year in 834^th place, and he now has 2010 Open champion Louis Oosthuizen in his sights. Oosthuizen, of course, is a victim of LIV Golf’s lack of world ranking points, and has slipped to 208^th place after being inside the world’s top 10 as recently as the end of the year in 2021.

There was also a substantial climb up the rankings from Darren Fichardt following his share of 12^th in the Alfred Dunhill Championship. The veteran was up 78 places to 394^th, still a long way off his career-high of 75^th all the way back in 2013.

Outside the top 25 South Africans according to the official rankings, Jbe’ Kruger went up 107 places from 575^th to 468^th, and he could displace Jacques Kruyswijk as South Africa’s 25^th-best placed player shortly. Kruyswijk was in 25^th after dropping 23 places, while Kruger’s climb came courtesy of a typhoon-shortened victory on the Asian Tour in the Mercuries Taiwan Masters.

Louis Albertse went up 68 places from 605^th to 537^th after a solid showing in the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship, and Luke Jerling went up 182 places from 1,075^th to 893^rd thanks to his maiden Sunshine Tour victory in the SunBet Challenge event at Umhlali.

South Africa’s top-ranked players remain Christiaan Bezuidenhout, unchanged at 45^th, and Thriston Lawrence, similarly unchanged at 46^th.
