Robin Williams warmed nicely to his task on Friday as he carded the low round of the day in the second round of the Challenge Tour’s Kaskáda Golf Challenge at Golf Resort Kaskáda in Brno, Czech Republic.
Williams carded a six-under-par 65 to move to 11-under-par at the halfway mark of the tournament. That put him in a share of second, two shots behind the leader, Germany’s Jannik de Bruyn. Williams shared second with David Borda of Spain, who was one of two other players who had a second-round 65. The other was Tapio Pulkkanen of Finland, who was in fourth on nine-under with two other players.
Williams, who will be starting his exemption on the DP World Tour in November as a reward for his second place on last season’s Sunshine Tour Order of Merit, made three birdies without dropping a shot on the front nine. He dropped his only shot of the day immediately after the turn on the 10th, but he made three birdies on the bounce from the 13th before signing off with his final gain on the 18th.
Wilco Nienaber, Bryce Easton and Dylan Mostert were all on six-under in a share of 13th after rounds of four-under, two-over and three-under respectively.
Deon Germishuys and Oliver Bekker were on three-under in a share of 43rd.
Louis Albertse, Luke Jerling and Albert Venter all missed the cut, as did Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith.
