Casandra Alexander eagled the 16th on Friday to rescue a roller-coaster round in the second round of the Ladies European Tour’s KPMG Women’s Irish Open at Dromoland Castle in County Clare.
Alexander eventually signed for a level-par 72 to be in a share of 13th at the halfway mark at five-under-par. That put her five strokes behind the first-round leader Diksha Dagar of India, who carded a three-under 69 to move to 10-under. Dagar had a one-stroke lead over Anne van Dam of the Netherlands, American Gurleen Kaur and Emma Grechi of France.
Alexander was in a six-way share of 13th, after making two birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey ahead of her eagle on the 16th.
She was one stroke ahead of fellow-South African Lee-Anne Pace, who had a two-under 70 to move in to a share of 19th.
Nicole Garcia was on level-par after 36 holes after a second-round one-over 73 moved her to a share of 51st, while Cara Gorlei made the cut on the number at one-over after her three-over 75 in the second round.
Lejan Lewthwaite and Stacy Bregman missed the cut after rounds of 72 and 77 respectively.
