Just to rub it in, Jason Froneman holed out for eagle on the 18th on Tuesday to cruise to a five-stroke victory in the Bushveld Tour’s Bushveld Series #3 at Glendower Golf Club.
After his two eagles in succession in the first round of the 36-hole tournament saw him sign for a 10-under 62, he had two bogeys in his second round, but, with his closing pyrotechnics, he still carded a six-under 66 to romp home by a comfortable margin.
Joint runners-up were Yurav Premlall and Warwick Purchase on 11-under-par after closing rounds of 65 and 64 respectively. Both Purchase and Premall made two eagles in their closing rounds, but Froneman’s six-stroke lead after the first round proved insurmountable.
Graham van der Merwe finished fourth on six-under after a closing three-under-par 69, and Tyrone Ryan was fifth on five-under after he signed for a one-under 71.
Froneman’s win lifted him to the top of the Order of Merit after three tournaments, with Louis Liebenberg in second.
