Three birdies and no dropped shots weren’t quite enough on Sunday for Ernie Els to chase down Vijay Singh in the final round of the PGA Tour Champions SAS Championship at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina.

Els signed for a closing three-under-par 69, the same score as Singh in the final round, and finished two shots behind Singh who totalled nine-under-par for the 54-hole tournament. Els was a shot ahead of Alex Cejka of Germany, who shared thord with Tag Ridings of the United States.

It was Singh’s first win on the PGA Tour Champions since 2023, and his sixth win in 193 starts. In the process, he became the seventh-oldest player to win on the tour.

Els’ closing round came a day after his 57th birthday, and it was his third runner-up finish of the 2026 season. It lifted him to sixth in the tour’s Charles Schwab Cup standings
