Garrick Higgo made a bogey on his seventh hole of the day on Friday, but he went on to card a three-under-par 68 in the second round of the PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda.
Higgo teed off on the 10th in his second round, and he immediately atoned for that dropped shot with consecutive birdies on the 17th and 18th. He made it three birdies in a row with a gain on the first, and rounded things out with a closing birdie on the eighth. That took him to five-under for the tournament at the halfway mark, and a share of 26th.
Justin Lower of the United States stayed at the top of the leaderboard with a six-under 65 in the second round taking him to 12-under. He was two clear of fellow-Americans Robby Shelton and Ryan Moore. There were two players on nine-under, four on eight-under, 10 on seven-under and six on six-under. Higgo was one of 12 on five-under.
Christo Lamprecht pulled a four-under 67 out of the bag to get to two-under to make the cut on the number in a share of 60th.
