Although he closed with a bogey on Sunday, things appeared to have turned a corner for Garrick Higgo as he finished in the top 20 in the PGA Tour’s Butterfield Bermuda Championship at Port Royal Golf Course in Southampton, Bermuda.
His share of 17th saw him edge closer to the top 125 on the FedExCup Fall rankings, a number that would give him security of tenure on the PGA Tour for 2025. He was projected to rise to 135th with the RSM Classic next week giving him one last shot at getting inside the number.
Higgo started the final round well with successive birdies on the first and second, but he dropped a shot on the eighth. It was pars all the way until the 17th where he picked up his third birdie, but he dropped that shot on the final hole. He carded a one-under 70.
The tournament was won by Rafael Campos of Puerto Rico, who closed with a four-under 68 to win by three from Andrew Novak of the United States.
Behind Higgo, Christo Lamprecht finished strongly with his closing two-under 69 lifting him 16 places on the leaderboard to a share of 23rd on nine-under. He made five birdies and three bogeys.
