Higgo facing uncertain PGA Tour future after 53rd-place finish in RSM Classic

Garrick Higgo closed out his season on the PGA Tour on Sunday with a two-under-par 68 on the Seaside Course in the final round of the RSM Classic, and that gave him a share of 53rd place at St Simon’s Island in Georgia.

The problem with that finish was it left him stranded on 135th place on the FedExCup Fall rankings, and that essentially leaves him without a gig on the PGA Tour for the 2025 season. It’s quite a fall – although at least partly injury-induced – for the man who was ranked as high at 38th as recently as June 2021.

He does retain conditional status for the 2025 PGA Tour season, but he is not guaranteed entry into even full-field events outside the PGA Tour’s Signature tournaments. He does, however, have full status on the Korn Ferry Tour for next year. He could also take his chances on the DP World Tour, which is a somewhat less attractive option for a player who bases himself in the United States. Of course, the Sunshine Tour also offers him some routes back to the big time, but that takes a commitment to a tough grind with limited financial reward compared to his other options.

The tournament was won by American Maverick McNealy, who birdied the final hole to win by one from amateur Luke Clanton of the United States, Colombian Nico Echavarria and another American, Daniel Berger.
