Brandon Stone made five birdies on Friday when the DP World Tour’s Porsche Singapore Classic at Laguna National Golf Resort Club in Singapore finally got underway after the opening day was washed out.

Starting his round on the 10th, Stone made three birdies without dropping a shot on his opening nine. He had picked up two more on the front nine on his way home before he dropped his only shot of the day on the par-four eighth. He eventually signed for a four-under-par 68.

That put him in a share of 15th, three strokes behind the lead which was shared at seven-under-par between England’s Marcus Armitage and Matthew Jordan. They led by one from five players on six-under, and there were seven players on five-under in a share of eighth.

Next best of the South Africans was Dylan Frittelli, who had a three-under-par 69 and was in a share of 24th.

Until a double-bogey six on his last hole, the ninth, Zander Lombard was on four-under with Stone after he had made six birdies on his homeward nine to counter his opening two-over 39 on the back nine. He finished up on two-under in a share of 36th.

Louis Albetrse was also on two-under, while Ryan van Velzen opened with a one-under for a share of 53rd. Wilco Nienaber was on level-par 72 for a share of 69th, while Jayden Schaper and Thomas Aiken were on one-over-par 73.
