Late bogeys stymie Horne’s push for victory in Swiss Seniors Open

Two late bogeys on Sunday sank Keith Horne’s chances of a second title in two weeks in the Legends Tour as he finished in a share of second in the Swiss Seniors Open at Golf Club Bad Ragaz.

In the end, his finish was enough to put him in second place on the Order of Merit too, and his closing four-under-par 66 left him two strokes behind the winner, New Zealander Mark Brown. Brown closed with a six-under 64 to win on his debut on the Legends Tour, relegating Horne and the English duo of Van Phillips and Robert Coles to a share of second on 13-under-par for the 54-hole tournament.

Horne was applying the pressure with four birdies through 12 holes, but the dropped shots on 13 and 14 set his chase back. He birdied 15 and 16, but was unable to pick up any more strokes on the closing two holes, while Brown picked up a birdie on the last to seal his victory.

“It’s amazing,” said the champion. “I really didn’t know what to expect this week, so we’ve all just had a blast. We’ve had a fantastic week, and what a way to finish today.

“I stayed pretty patient. I felt like the scoring was going to be pretty low today. There’s hardly any wind, so I just needed to be patient, especially on the front nine. I managed to make a few birdies on that back nine coming home, which was really the key. Winning is never easy, so I had the heart rate going coming up 18.”

Behind Horne, Adilson Da Silva had a closing six-under 64 to climb into seventh place. Last season’s Order of Merit winner has had a quiet start to the 2025 season, and is in 19th on the Order of Merit.

Darren Fichardt signed for a 66 in his final round and finished in a share of 14th, while James Kingston’s 69 put him in a share of 39th. They are 17th and fourth respectively on the Order of Merit.
