It wasn’t enough to stop himself from being overtaken, but Garrick Higgo’s closing four-under-par 68 on Sunday was enough for a share of fourth in the PGA Tour’s World Wide Technology Championship in Mexico.
In one of those low-scoring PGA Tour events, Ben Griffin’s nine-under-par 63 for the final round hauled in Higgo who led through 54 holes. And between Griffin’s 29-under-par winning total and Higgo’s 26-under in fourth, were American Chad Ramey and Finland’s Sami Valimaki, who carded seven-under and eight-under respectively to edge ahead of Higgo and finish on 27-under.
Higgo made six birdies in his final round, but a double-bogey six on the 12th cost him when he lost his ball from the tee.
But for all that, it was a good week for Higgo, who continued his good form in the PGA Tour’s FedExCup Fall Series, as he climbed to 52nd on the rankings. That is a good move to setting himself up for the start of the new season and for a place in the early Signature events in that season.
Griffin joined Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy as the only golfers to win three or more times in 2025 – impressive company.
