Wilco Nienaber rounded off his best week in ages with a closing four-under-par 68 on Sunday to take a share of seventh in the DP World Tour’s Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews in St Andrews, Scotland.

Nienaber, who put the cat amongst the pigeons with his course-record 11-under 61 in the second round, added seven birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey to his tally for the week to move to 17-under for the tournament. That was five behind Sean Crocker of the United States, who took his maiden DP World Tour title by a single shot from Eddie Pepperell, who made eight birdies in his effort to chase down Crocker. It was ultimately a bogey on nine after a wayward tee shot that cost Pepperell.

Louis de Jager ground his way to a closing level-par 72 to finish on 14-under for the week in a share of 14th. Jacques Kruyswijk had a 71 in the final round to finish in a share of 19th on 13-under. Justin Walters was a shot back on 13-under after a 71 and shared 22nd. Bryce Easton and JC Ritchie were in a share of 30th on 11-under after 69 and 72 respectively. Brandon Stone had a four-over 76 to be on four-under for the tournament in 63rd, while Adilson Da Silva had is second-successive 74 to finish in 66th on three-under.
