Jaco Ahlers kept himself right in contention on Saturday with a bogey-free three-under-par 69 in the third round of the Asian Tour’s International Series Singapore at the Tampines Course at Tanah Merah Country Club.
The 10-time winner on the Sunshine Tour made birdies on five, eight and 10, and climbed from seventh on the leaderboard at halfway to a share of sixth with LIV player Peter Uihlein. At 11-under, Ahlers is just three-shots off the lead going into the final round. Up front were Gavin Green of Malaysia and Phachara Khongwatmai of Thailand. They lead by one from Chan Shih-chang of Taipei and Nitithorn Thippong of Thailand.
Behind Ahlers, Jbe’ Kruger had a good third round, carding a four-under-par 68 to climb into a share of 16th on eight-under. Justin Harding had a three-under 69 to move to seven-under in a share of 20th, while Keith Horne eagled the 18th for a two-under. He moved to three-under and a share of 50th together with Patrick Reed of the United States, who had a level-par 72. Adilson Da Silva had a two-over 74 to slip to a share of 67th at level-par.
First round leader, Scott Vincent of Zimbabwe, had a one-under 71 to go to eight-under together with Kruger, and his younger brother Keiran, making his Asian Tour debut, also had a one-under to be seven-under.
