It was another top 10 for Thriston Lawrence on Sunday as he closed the DP World Tour’s Estrella Damm NA Andalucía Masters at Valderrama with a two-under-par 69 and a share of sixth place.

It was Lawrence’s third 69 of the week, and he had to overcome a double-bogey on the ninth. He countered that with five birdies, but he dropped a shot on the second as he moved to five-under for the week. That put him 14 strokes behind Spain’s Adrian Otaegui, who carded a three-under 68 to move to 19-under and a six-stroke win over Sweden’s Joakim Lagergren.

Lawrence’s double came when he had to hack a pushed drive out of the right rough, and he was only able to advance it 118 yards, 26 yards from the pin. He put his third to inside 22 feet, but three-putted from there.

His performance will keep him in ninth position on the DP World Tour Rankings, in line for a great finish and a possible entry to the PGA Tour in the United States.

Zander Lombard finished strong with a five-under-par 66 taking him to two-under for the tournament and a share of 14th. He is also now almost certain of his place in the Nedbank Golf Challenge on November 10.

Oliver Bekker had a closing 70 to take him to a share of 45th on four-over, and he too will be teeing it up at Gary Player Country Club on November 10 as he stayed in 29th on the rankings.

Louis de Jager battled to a two-over 73 and, at seven-over for the tournament, was in 59th. Erik van Rooyen, in his first tournament back from injury, had a closing five-over 76th as he finished on nine-over in a share of 61st.
