A five-under-par 67 on Saturday got Ockie Strydom within sight of the top 10 after the third round of the DP World Tour’s Singapore Classic at the Laguna National Golf Resort Club as he climbed into a share of 11th.
Strydom, who won the Alfred Dunhill Championship in December to gain his European playing rights, twice made three birdies in a row in his third round. He ran them off from the seventh to the ninth and from the 14th to the 16th. He dropped a shot on the 10th, and ended up on 10-under for the tournament ahead of the final 18 holes.
The lead was shared by Jeunghun Wang of South Korea and Alejandro Del Rey of Spain on 14-under. They led by one from England’s Richard Mansell on 13-under. There were four players in a share of fourth on 12-under, and three in eighth on 11-under. Strydom shared 11th with four other players.
Zander Lombard had a third-round two-under 71 to climb to a share of 21st for the tournament on eight-under, while the only other South African to make the cut, Deon Germishuys, carded a level-par 72 to head into the final round at three-under in a share of 55th.
