A closing two-under-par 68 saw Ryan Tipping come from behind to win the Bushveld Tour’s Race to Q-School Golferade Series #1 at Killarney Country Club on Wednesday.
It was a superb front nine that set things up for Tipping, as he made five birdies on that loop after opening with a bogey on the first. Things weren’t quite as smooth for the veteran as he made a bogey on 12 and a double-bogey on 13, but he steadied the ship and made birdie on 15. He had a two-under 68 in his first round and a level-par 70 in his second.
In the end, he had a two-stroke margin over Chris Long, Nicholaus Frade and Ruan Groenewald, who shared second on two-under-par for the 54-hole tournament. Jason Froneman and Romain Legentil shared fifth on one-under-par.
The Race To Q-School Series is made up of three separate series of events. Each has its own Order of Merit. The top four finishers from each series will receive paid entry fees into the Sunshine Tour Qualifying School in April. Tipping heads the current series after the first event.
