After morning mist delayed the start of the PGA Tour’s Valero Texas Open on Thursday, MJ Daffue found himself in a share of second after his first round of four-under-par 68.

There were a lot of players with a lot of golf left to play – some had as many as 13 holes to go to complete their first rounds – but Daffue found himself in august company with major champion Padraig Harrington and multiple PGA Tour winner Matt Kuchar. Also on four-under were Roberto Diaz of Mexico and Patrick Rodgers of the United States.

One shot back on three-under was Garrick Higgo in a share of seventh on three-under with last week’s winner on the PGA Tour, Matt Wallace of England.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout was on level-par through seven holes, and Erik van Rooyen was on three-over through nine.
