Ashleigh Buhai slipped one position to 75th in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings after her share of 45th on the weekend in the Meijer LPGA Classic in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
She had a solid week, with her only round above 70 coming in the closing round as she carded a one-under-par 71 to go with her 69-68-69. Her tournament total of 11-under-par was 14 strokes off Nelly Korda’s 25-under-par, as the American stretched out for her second win of the season. Korda closed with a five-under 67 to defeat rookie Leona Maguire of Ireland by two shots.
Buhai made two birdies and no drops on her opening nine, but a bogey-six on the 10th, followed by another dropped shot on the par-three 11th started her journey home off poorly. She picked up a birdie on the 14th, and went bogey-par on 17 and 18 to slip from 28th at the start of the round to her finishing share of 45th.
Buhai is the top-ranked South African on the rankings, with Lee-Anne Pace the next best at 208th after she climbed five places in the latest list. Paula Reto, who just missed the cut in the Meijer LPGA Classic, is third at 435th, unchanged from last week.
