Gorlei into SA’s top 10 on women’s world rankings

Cara Gorlei reached a career-high of 836th this week on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings as she moved into the top 10 South African players ranked on the list.

Gorlei, who had reached 903rd after the Investec South African Women’s Open championship where she finished 53rd, has an 11th place finish in the Thailand Mixed Cup presented by Trustgolf to thank for her rise in the rankings.

She supplanted Lejan Lewthwaite as South Africa’s 10th-best player according to the official list, and she is 149 places behind the ninth-ranked player, Keira Floyd, who was 687th this week.

South Africa’s top-ranked player, Ashleigh Buhai, climbed four places to 16th after he third-place finish in the LPGA Tour’s Cognizant Founders Cup at the weekend.
