Jacques Kruyswijk climbed six places on the leaderboard on Friday with a two-under-par 69 in the second round of the DP World Tour’s Genesis Championship at Woo Jeong Hills Country Club in Cheonan, South Korea.
Kruyswijk made an eagle, three birdies, a bogey and a double-bogey as he moved to four-under-par for the tournament at the halfway mark. He was in a share of 15th, two strokes off the eight-way share of the lead at the top of the leaderboard.
Nobody could find a way out of the logjam at the top of the leaderboard ahead of the weekend as eight players shared the halfway lead in Cheonan. Sungjae Im, who won this event in 2019, had the chance after making six birdies in his second round, but bogeyed the ninth – his last – to slip back to six-under, alongside compatriot Minhyuk Song, Englishman Alex Fitzpatrick and France’s Tom Vaillant who were already in the clubhouse. Spaniard Nacho Elvira’s second 68 of the week increased the leading group before New Zealand’s Daniel Hillier and Junghwan Lee, who carded the lowest round of the day with his 65, also climbed to the summit. Joint first-round leader Haotong Li jumped to eight-under after two birdies in his opening five holes, but a mixed round which saw him pick up four shots but also bogey four holes saw him remain at six-under.
Further back, Richard Sterne carded a level-par 71 and was in a share of 28th on two-under. Dylan Frittelli also reached two-under with his 69, while Casey Jarvis made the cut on the number with his one-under 70 lifting him to one-over through 36 holes.
