Lombard’s form continues with opening 68 in Andalucía Masters

Zander Lombard’s fine form continued on Thursday when he carded a four-under-par 68 in the first round of the DP World Tour’s Andalucía Masters at Real Club de Golf Sotogrande in Andalucia, Spain.

Lombard started his round on the 10th, making three birdies without making a bogey through the turn on 18, but he dropped his first of two shots on the first. He got that back immediately with a birdie on two, and made two more on six and seven. His second bogey came on the eighth.

At four-under, he was in a share of seventh with four other players, four behind the leader James Morrison of England. Morrison’s eight-under 64 put him one shot ahead of Nick Bachem of Germany, with Spaniard Adrian Otaegui in third on six-under.

In a share of seventh with Lombard was Louis de Jager, who, like his compatriot, ade six birdies and two bogeys in his 68.

Deon Germishuys and Ockie Strydom were in a share of 18th on two-under, while Thriston Lawrence was on one-under in a share of 33rd with JC Ritchie. Oliver Bekker was on level-par and in a share of 55th.

Daniel van Tonder and Justin Walters were on one-over in a share of 75th. Hennie du Plessis was on three-over and Bryce Easton carded a six-over-par 78.
