Massive boost for Floyd in latest world rankings

Kiera Floyd had a massive leap in the latest Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings this week after her share of fourth in the Joburg Ladies Open over the weekend as she climbed 688 places into 651st.

That made her the seventh-best South African on the list as she leapfrogged into the top 10 amongst her compatriots. And that was in just her second tournament which carried ranking points.

There were good climbs for a lot of South African players, with Ashleigh Buhai remaining South Africa’s leading player. She climbed two places to number 18 in the world.

Nicole Garcia, Casandra Alexander, Stacy Bregman and Lejan Lewthwaite also had good weeks as they consolidated their positions inside the South African top 10.

Outside the top 10, former South African Women’s Open champion Tandi McCallum jumped 433 places to 1048th. She is the 12th best South African according to the list.
