Karabo Mokoena held on to a share of the lead on Tuesday in the second round of the IGT Challenge Tour’s Road to the Sunshine Tour #3 at Riviera on Vaal Country Club with a two-under-par 70.

He was joined at nine-under-par at the top of the leaderboard by amateur Christopher Long, who had a four-under 68 and Ricky Hendler, who signed for a three-under-par 69. Matthew Rushton continued his good form with a second-round 69 taking him to eight-under, one stroke off the pace.

Mokoena made six birdies, two bogeys and a double-bogey during his round, and he will have to keep errors to a minimum if his to hold off the challenge of the pair sharing the lead with him and those in closest pursuit.

Long, for example, made just one bogey in his round as he joined the party at the top of the leaderboard, and, while Hendler had two bogeys, he had five birdies to show that he is well able to score and chase.

Indeed, the players on seven-under and on six-under are within striking distance of the top of leaderboard, and it will be an interesting final round as the players try and fashion out a victory.
