Quiet week for South Africans in the US

Louis Oosthuizen closed the PGA Tour’s Valspar Championship with a two-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish up in a share of 62nd place at two-under-par for the tournament.

Sam Burns of the United States won the tournament in a play-off from Davis Riley after the pair finished locked up at 17-under, with Justin Thomas and Matthew NeSmith in a share of third on shot back.

Christiaan Bezuidenhout shared 62nd with Oosthuizen, but fared slightly better than him in the final round, finishing with a one-under 70.

Charl Schwartzel and Branden Grace missed the cut.

On the Korn Ferry Tour, MJ Daffue fought his way to a share of 51st with a closing round of level-par 71 in the Chitimacha Louisiana Open. The tournament was won by Carl Yuan in a play-off with Peter Uihlein.
