Bryce Easton closed with a four-under-par 69 on Sunday to finish in a share of 14th in the DP World Tour’s Porsche European Open at the Green Eagle Golf Courses in Hamburg, Germany.
Easton climbed 23 places on the leaderboard in the final round, moving to one-under for the tournament. That was eight shots behind the winner, Tom McKibbin of Northern Ireland. McKibbin pulled off his maiden DP World Tour title by two shots from Julien Guerrier of France and Germany’s Marcel Siem and Maximilian Kieffer.
Easton made a bogey early on in his final round on the third hole, but he reached the turn in level-par 35 after he made birdie on the seventh. He picked up four more strokes on his way home, on the 10th and 12th, with two birdies in succession coming on the final two holes for a finish with a flourish.
His performance gave him a boost to 125th on the Race to Dubai rankings, and a few good performances from ensuring he can retain his playing privileges for the following season.
Jayden Schaper had a closing two-under 71 to finish in a share of 22nd on one-over for the tournament. He is performing solidly on the rankings, and is in 76th.
After a solid start in the final round with three birdies in the first five holes, Justin Walters had a nightmare finish to his final round, signing off with a six-over-par 79 that included three double bogeys, four bogeys and one more birdie. At four-over for the tournament, he was in a share of 39th as he dropped 27 places on the leaderboard.
Wilco Nienaber closed with a seven-over 80 for a share of 44th on five-over, while Deon Germishuys’ 80 saw him slip to 66th on nine-over. Zander Lombard had a five-over 79 and was in 71st on 12-over.
Oliver Bekker, Ockie Strydom, JC Ritchie, Louis de Jager, Thomas Aiken and Tristen Strydom all missed the cut.
