Jayden Schaper finished with a two-under-par 69 on Sunday to play his way to a top-10 finish in the DP World Tour’s Magical Kenya Open at Muthaiga Golf Club in Nairobi.
Schaper made three birdies and a bogey, as he finished on 13-under-par, five shots behind the winner, Jorge Campillo of Spain. Campillo had a two-stroke edge over Masahiro Kawamura of Japan, while Kawamura’s countryman Ryo Hisatsune shared third with Santiago Tarrio, who shared third on 15-under-par.
Although he slipped four places on the leaderboard to a share of seventh, it was a good week for Shaper, who is projected to climb 19 places on the Race to Dubai into 40th place.
JC Ritchie closed with a three-under 68 to finish in a share of 11th on 12-under, while Shaun Norris had the joint-best round of the day with his eight-under 63. That took him to a share of 20th on 10-under-par.
One shot further back in a share of 25th were Wilco Nienaber and Casey Jarvis, after rounds of 67 and 65 respectively. Bryce Easton had a 67 to finish on eight-under in a share of 30th, while Daniel van Tonder and Louis de Jager were in a share of 35th on seven-under. Justin Harding and Justin Walters finished in a share of 40th on six-under, Dylan Mostert was on four-under, Oliver Bekker and Deon Germishuys on three-under, Thomas Aiken on one-under, and Jaco Prinsloo on one-over. Tristen Strydom made the cut but withdrew.
