Dawie van der Walt rounded out a difficult week on the PGA Tour on Sunday when he closed the weather-affected Wells Fargo Championship with a level-par 70 to finish in a share of 41st.
Van der Walt made four birdies and four bogeys as Max Homa survived the gruelling test of umbrellas, shoes and patience to win on eight-under after closing with a two-under 68. Homa had a two-stroke edge over Matt Fitzpatrick, Cameron Young and Keegan Bradley, while Rory McIlroy was on four-under in fifth.
Amongst those sharing 41st on five-over, 13 off the lead, with Van der Walt was Rory Sabbatini, the South African turned Slovakian. Dylan Frittelli also survived the weather to hold on for a share of 46th, one shot behind Van der Walt on six-over after his closing two-over 72.
