Robin Williams got within one of the lead on Saturday when he signed for a third three-under-par 68 in a row in the third round of the Challenge Tour’s Open de Portugal at Royal Óbidos Spa & Golf Resort in Portugal.
Williams made four birdies and a bogey to reach nine-under-par through 54 holes, and will head into the final round on Sunday in hot pursuit of the leader, Stefano Mazzoli of Italy. The Italian had a double-bogey five on the 15th, but six birdies gave him a four-under 67 as he moved to 10-under. Williams shared second with Felix Mory of France and Matt Oshrine of the United States. Welshman David Boote and halfway leader Benjamin Hebert of France were in a share of fifth, one behind Williams.
JC Ritchie had a one-under 70 in the third round, and, at five-under, was in a share of 14th. Deon Germishuys had a three-under 68 to drop under par for the first time in the tournament, and, at three-under, was in a share of 25th together with Benjamin Follett-Smith of Zimbabwe.
Wilco Nienaber stumbled to a two-over 73, and was in a share of 42nd at one-under-par.
