Robin Williams burst into the top 300 in the latest Official World Golf Ranking list released this week after his third-place finish in the Challenge Tour’s Farmfoods Scottish Challenge boosted him to 288th.
It was his fifth top-10 finish on the Challenge Tour this season, and his world ranking is at a career-high. He is also now inside the top 10 South Africans on the official world ranking list, and seems destined to keep climbing. He leapfrogged past Jayden Schaper and Hennis du Plessis on the South African rankings.
Also getting a nice boost from the Challenge Tour event last week – although he’s outside the South African top 25 – was Bryce Easton, who climbed 50 places to 703rd. He finished seventh. Deon Germishuys, who finished 10th, was up three places to 338th.
Christiaan Bezuidenhout’s share of 22nd in the PGA Tour’s Wyndham Championship left him unchanged in 45th on the world official list, and he is still South Africa’s top-ranked player. At 22nd on the FedExCup rankings, he’s set to probably play all three of the PGA Tour’s Playoff tournaments for a climax to a solid season.
The biggest climb on the rankings for a South African came from Warwick Purchase, who was up 422 places to 1,700th thanks to his win on the Betway Big Easy Tour last week.
