Dylan Frittelli posted a flawless seven-under-par 65 on Thursday to hold a share of second after the first round of the DP World Tour’s and Ladies European Tour’s Volvo Car Scandinavian Mixed at Vasatorps Golfklubb in Helsingborg, Sweden.
Frittelli made four birdies on his front nine after starting his round on the 10th, and three more on his way home to be two strokes off the lead together with Alex Fitzpatrick of England.
There was no stopping Sebastian Soderberg of Sweden, however, who made an eagle and seven birdies on his way to a bogey-free nine-under-par 63. Gavin Green was one stroke behind Frittelli and Fitzpatrick on six-under in fourth, and five players were in a share of fifth on five-under, including Louis de Jager of South Africa.
Amongst those on five-under were the top two women in the field, Linn Grant of Sweden who was the 2022 champion, and Lauren Walsh of Ireland. South Africa’s Lee-Anne Pace was on three-under in a share of 17th as the leading South African woman together with Casandra Alexander who is fresh off her US Women’s Open journey.
Cara Gorlei opened with a one-over-par 73 and was in a share of 84th, as was Nicole Garcia.
Jayden Schaper and Ockie Strydom battled to two-over-par 74 each in a share of 104th.
