Goosen continues good form with share of 3rd in California

Retief Goosen’s good form continued on Sunday as he closed with a sparkling seven-under-par 65 to finish in a share of third in the PGA Tour Champions’ PURE Insurance Championship which was played on Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill Golf Course on the Monterey Peninsula in California.

Highlighted by nine birdies in the final round, Goosen carded the low round of the tournament, to finish at 10-under-par 206. This was his fourth top-three finish of the season in 19 starts.

Doug Barron closed with a bogey-free 67 to win at 12-under 204 by one stroke over World Golf Hall of Fame member Vijay Singh, moving up to 16th in the Charles Schwab Cup standings after starting the week at number 23.

Ernie Els closed with a five-under 67 to climb 26 places on the leaderboard to a share of 16th.

Goosen was projected to stay in ninth place in the Charles Schwab Cup standings, while Els would stay fourth.
