He gritted his way to a closing two-under-par 70 on Sunday, and JC Ritchie finished in a share of fifth in the DP World Tour’s DP World India Championship at Delhi Golf Club in New Delhi.
It was a tournament of fluctuations for Ritchie, an, in his defence, it was a tournament affected by weather, which made for stop-start golf. He opened with a bogey-free 67, followed it up with a double and two bogeys in a second round of 71, popped a second 67 in the third round with just one bogey, and overcame four bogeys in the final round to finish on 13-under-par for the tournament.
He finished eight shots behind the winner, Eugenio Chacarra of Spain, who had a two-stroke margin over runner-up Daniel Hillier of New Zealand who finished on 19-under-par.
Poland’s Adrian Meronk and Spaniard Angel Hidalgo shared third on 15-under, while Ritchie shared fifth with Gregorio De Leo of Italy, England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Dutch veteran Joost Luiten.
Ritchies performance saw him jump 14 places on the Race to Dubai rankings to 68th.
