Jaco Ahlers settled down on Friday in the second round of the Asian Tour’s 41st GS Caltex Maekyung Open at Namseoul Country Club in Seongnam, South Korea when he carded a four-under-par 67 to make the cut and climb into a share of 20th.

It was a bogey-free effort from the man who won the Stella Artois Players Championship on the Sunshine Tour, and it was a good counter-measure to his frustrating opening round of three-over-par 74. It left him six strokes off the lead going into the weekend. The leaders were Koreans Bio Kim, Dongmin Lee and amateur Minhyuk Song. They led by one from Viraj Madappa of India and Jiho Yang of Korea.

Ahlers was one strome behind compatriot Neil Schietekat, who went one-over for his second round and settled into a share of 15th on two-under, five shots off the pace.

Mathiam Keyser also made the cut, signing for a second round of one-over 72 to move to three-over for the tournament and a share of 63rd. He made the cut on the number.

Ian Snyman missed the cut by one on four-over, and Zimbabwe’s Benjamin Follett-Smith finished 36 holes on nine-over after a second round of six-over 77.
