Buhai still in top 20 in women’s world rankings

It was all down except for one player last week amongst the top 10 South Africans on the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings, as Ashleigh Buhai remained just inside the world’s top 20.

Buhai, who was in a share of 33rd in the LPGA tournament last week, slipped two spots to 20th in the world, as all the players dropped a few spots except for Kiera Floyd who came third in the Standard Bank Ladies Open on the Sunshine Tour. That left her ranking unchanged as South Africa’s ninth-best player at 664th.

In a one of those things that makes both the women’s rankings and the men’s rankings infuriating, Stacy Bregman dropped seven places despite winning at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington. It showed once more the lack of weight given events outside the United States.

South Africa’s top 10:

  1. Ashleigh Buhai 20 (down 2)
  2. Paula Reto 66 (down 4)
  3. Lee-Anne Pace 176 (down 5)
  4. Nicole Garcia 208 (down 3)
  5. Casandra Alexander 282 (down 5)
  6. Kaleigh Telfer 526 (down 1)
  7. Stacy Bregman 569 (down 7)
  8. Nadia van der Westhuizen 662 (up 1)
  9. Kiera Floyd 664 (unchanged)
  10. Lejan Lewthwaite 867 (down 10)
