Gabrielle Venter closed with an eagle on the final hole on Sunday to finish in a share of 17th in the weather-shortened La Sella Open in Spain on the Ladies European Tour.

That eagle took her to level-par for the final round after she had made two birdies and four bogeys. She was the leading South African in the field, with LET number one Casandra Alexander finishing one shot further back on one-under for the tournament in a share of 25th after her closing two-over 74. Caitlyn Macnab was on level-par after her closing one-under 71 put her in a share of 27th.

England’s Charlotte Heath secured her maiden LET title in dramatic fashion, holding off a host of challengers to win in Denia, Alicante.

The 24-year-old rookie started the final round with a four-shot advantage and, despite seeing her lead disappear during a tense Sunday afternoon, held her composure to card a final-round 73 and finish at 10-under-par, two shots clear of the field.

Next up for the stars of the LET is a trip to Italy for the Buccellati Ladies Italian Open at Golf Club Milano, which will be played from September 25-27.
